Jazz Brown, originally from Walnut Cove, North Carolina, earned a B.S. in social work from Winston-Salem State University in 2018, and is currently enrolled in Appalachian State University’s Master of Social Work program. Why did you choose to work at the lab schools?
I chose the lab schools because I felt at home when I began my internship there.
What's your favorite part about working at the lab schools?
My favorite part about working at the lab schools is the staff’s eagerness to help students reach their educational and personal goals.

“Learning together” is a core commitment of the lab schools. What does "learning together" mean to you?
Learning together means becoming united to increase our knowledge of the topic at hand. During our CARE team meeting, where we discuss the needs of the whole child — attendance needs, health care needs, academic needs, and overall family needs — we come together to learn more about the students and work together to fix any situations that may have arised.
