RaChelle Wood, originally from Walkertown, North Carolina, earned a B.A. in elementary education from the University of Phoenix in 2019. Wood currently serves as a second-grade teacher. Read on to learn more:
Why did you choose to work at the Academy?
It was an opportunity to continue doing what I love in an environment that is positive and supportive.
What's your favorite part about working at the Academy?
The connections between the teachers and students, as well as the relationships among the staff.
How are you impacting education in your community?
I encourage my students to have great hearts and determination because building relationships with them is more than just educating them.
What was your favorite subject when you were in elementary school?

Describe an experience where you "learned together" at the Academy.
I mentioned that “learning together” is a goal. At the Academy, we — students, teachers, administrators — are all willing to take the steps needed to get there. We learn from each other and, together, we learn new things. We work together to learn together!
