I love to learn from every person that I come in contact with. Some lessons take a lifetime to learn. Others take thousands of teachers to teach. I actively engage in both types of learning.
Tanika Hawkins, originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, earned a B.S. in human services from Gardner-Webb University in 2015. She currently serves as the Academy’s Testing and Transportation Coordinator. Hawkins joined the Academy in 2021. Why did you choose to work at the Academy?
I love to watch things grow and change into something beautiful. The Academy is a place where this happens.
What's your favorite part about working at the Academy?
Being part of a family that is grounded in values that are important to me as an individual, such as the Academy’s core values of Honesty, Integrity, Kindness and Excellence (HIKE).
How are you impacting education in your community?
Standardized testing is important, but can be scary. I enjoy helping put students at ease as they enter the very necessary world of standardized testing.
